Final Film Opening

Prelim Practice

This is my practice prelim task based on a superhero genre

Self evaluation:

1) I worked with Chay, Sam and Libby. We all had our parts to do in the production of this movie, Sam did the camera work, Chay was the director and Libby created the story boards and did part of the acting and I did the editing above and part of the acting.

2) We planned our sequence through our storyboard, witing down each clip as we go along. We wrote down all are ideas on a scrap piece of paper first, then did small drawings of our clips with descriptions of the pictures underneath as a storyboard, filmed the clips and then edited them on premier. We tried to take into account the camera shots we had to include in the movie, for example, the 180 dialogue shots, close up shot, reverse shot etc.

3) We used a Sony Carl Zeiss camera to record our footage. We also used Premiere to edit our footage.

4) When planning our film, we had to take into consideration what was actually possible to film or edit, for example we had to keep the filming ideas quite simple. When shooting our film we had to take into consideration the sound, what was going on in the background, the camera angles we had to use and how we could make it look as dramatic and interesting as possible. For the editing we had to take into consideration how smooth the transitions look, how we're going to fit in the audio with the filming, what we need to cut out from the clips and what order we need to put the clips in to make the film make sense.

5) Our sequnce turned out to be very average by the time we finished it. I think that the filming was quite poor because the acting wasnt great and we didn't film everything we wanted to film in order to make the movie make sense. I think we saved the filming a but with the editing, adding in some dramatic music and putting some description imbertween scenes to explain what is actually happening. I had some farely mixed views on the film, some people said it didnt make sense because they dont understand what happened in the fight which was down to the filming, but some people said that we captured the genre quite well using the typical corny superhero lines.
6) Through this process I have learnt that getting the filming right is vital to creating a good film, and I will try to do this in future projects. When completing my future coursework, I will look back on this to see what went well and what didn't go so well, which can be very important for me to get it right the next time.
